New Day, New System. Your Tubberware Organizational Battles Are Over

Materials

  • Tupperware containers
  • Plastic bins
  • Waterproof Stickers
  • Waterproof Marker

Here’s the thing with tupperware. You quickly find that you have more tupperware than one could ever possibly need. Like missing socks, do you have ten times the number of lids as you do containers? Or maybe you have ten times the number of containers as you do lids. There’s no prejudice here. Where do they go?  They must be with all the missing socks!

HOW TO STAY ORGANIZED

1. Consolidate

Figure out what you really need. Maybe two small, two medium, two large, and two extra large containers. Maybe a round and square in each size. Simple. Done. Trust me, less is more.  If you really feel like you need more, then by all means, go for it. But, you get the idea.

2. Find the Matching Lids

Go through ALL of your tupperware. You will have to take the time to sort. Just do it and get it over with. You will be so glad to purge all those items that are missing their better half. It took me about an hour and by the end, I felt like a new person!

3. Label

Once you figure out what containers you will be keeping, start labeling. I used round waterproof stickers and a black waterproof marker. I find that a number system works best.

For example, let’s say you have three small round containers that are identical. Label each small round container with the number “1” and its corresponding lid with the number “1”. Now on to the square container. Let’s say you have two of them. Label each small round square container with the number “2” and its corresponding lid with the number “2”.

That’s it! So easy. Now, you will never struggle to find the matching lid in your pile of tupperware junk every again!

4. Bin Placement

Now listen carefully. Place your labeled tupperware containers in one large bin and your tupperware lids in a separate large bin. Store in kitchen. Done. Yes, I said done!

5. Leftovers

What in the world do you do with all the extra tupperware you have? Donate! Give it away! Do you really need fifty tupperware containers for your family? What about the ones with missing lids? Donate! I had two giant bags of tupperware to donate after sorting through everything. Of course, I strongly recommend keeping a few sizes and shapes that can go into storage, separate from your kitchen space. For instance, I store many of our oversized containers in the basement. I only use these for big gatherings or potlucks. But, I don’t need to have them staring me in the face in my kitchen everyday.

Kids Craft Organization

We have so many fun craft items for the kids to use in the basement playroom. But if it's not organized, the kids are uninterested, not to mention the items become so hard to find. We took two storage units that we bought at Target and added a few baskets and bins (you can never have too many!).

Result? Instant Organization! Simple and Uncomplicated.

Dress Up Closet Organization

From Computer Armoire to Dress Up Closet

Dress up and costume clothes always ended up in a heap on the floor. Sheriff badges went missing, fire hats couldn't be found, and pirate swords were lost between the couch cushions. Not anymore!

One day, we were about to get rid of our useless old computer armoire. And then, I got the idea....our new dress up closet! This holds everything and looks great in our basement playroom. The kids love it. It's easy to find all of their outfits. There is a special drawer for all the accessory pieces, hats, and shoes. Perfect solution to our problem. We added a full length mirror right next to the closet so the kids can have fun looking at their fun and silly outfits.
